How do I know if my piano needs tuning?

An out-of-tune piano produces a characteristic beating sound, caused by interference between similar sound frequencies. Most piano keys have more than one string – these are known as bichords and trichords. In the process of tuning these are tuned to the same frequency to eliminate beats.

Time
Needed

One to two hours, up to two and a half hours if a pitch adjustment is performed. It depends on the condition of the piano and the length of time since its last tuning.

Pitch
Adjustment

Sometimes needed if it has been over a year since its last tuning, if it has been moved or has experienced major changes in temperature and/or humidity.

Tuning is $180. Pitch adjustment, if needed, adds $90. Debit cards, credit cards and cash are accepted. Commercial/institutional clients can apply to pay by invoice.
